SEPTEMBER 2017 EXHIBITS:

PUSH - September 2-30, 2017
Michelle Contois & Alex Peck-Whyte

PUSH is an exhibition of paintings, drawings and collage pieces by Alex Peck-Whyte and Michelle Contois. Alex is a graduate of the University of Alberta; Michelle a graduate of the University of Calgary. Each earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Distinction. Alex is represented at the Bugera Matheson Gallery in Edmonton, Alberta.

As artists and friends we developed a creative connection reinforced through regular critique sessions. These sessions provided that 'second pair of eyes' to view the work more clearly and provide incentive to produce stronger, better art. We have discussed, experimented, shared, borrowed, and fundamentally built upon each others' successes.

Our aim with the show is to provide a window onto this reciprocal creative relationship. While the pieces are not explicitly in dialogue with each other, shared considerations of line, gesture and colour are evident. We have been fascinated to see the change and growth in our work due to this mutual influence and are excited to share the results of this creative alliance.

OPENING RECEPTION: SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2017 - 1 to 3 pm. Everyone welcome!

A highway-stormin', americana/soul duo. This husband and wife, internationally-touring team travel the country in their 1976 Winnebago.

From the beginning...

As the fall of 2012 approached, inspiration for change struck and a decision was made to bet the farm and take a chance on a life less ordinary. The house was sold, jobs were left behind and an old towable trailer became the new way of life. Packing up only the essentials - the dogs, guitars, amplifiers and favorite coffee mugs, Campbell and McIsaac hit the road and travelled over 7000 kms in three months.

After returning to Ontario in the late spring of 2013, the duo took to the studio and in a weekend recorded their self-titled debut album. Featuring a collection of songs inspired by their recent journey, it would become the foundation for a new direction.

In January 2016 the duo embarked on a nine-month tour, travelling over 20,000 miles and playing more than 80 shows in 13 States and three Provinces. Their sophomore record is set for release in October 2017. www.winniebrave.com
