Description: Come and see Parksville premiere event on the beach: The Quality Foods Canadian Open Sand Sculpting Competition and Exhibition, July 16 - August 15 2010, organized by the Parksville Beach Festival Society.
Master Sand Sculptors travel from all corners of the globe to participate in this remarkable world class competition. Sculptors have 24 hours over three days to create their masterpieces from just sand and water (and a lot of ingenuity!)
The competition begins with the "pound up" on Friday July 16th and the winners are announced on Sunday July 18th. The gated exhibition is open to the public on July 17th at 2pm and continues until August 15th. You can also vote for your favourite sculpture starting on July 19th, helping to select the ever popular "People's Choice" award.
Entry to the exhibition is by donation with a suggested donation of $2 per person. Proceeds from your donation support several local non-profit organizations with over $25,000 per year being donated back to these volunteer community groups.
Be sure to bring your camera to this event because once the exhibit is over the sculptures are gone forever. And don't forget to bring your own buckets and shovels as you and your family are sure to be inspired to create a little sandcastle magic of your own after viewing the exhibit.
The 2010 Quality Foods Canadian Open Sand Sculpting Competition and Exhibit is located in Parksville's Community Park, next to the Lion's Venture Land Playground and Water Spray Park. COMPETITION July 16, 17, 18. EXHIBITION July 17 - Aug 15 9am - 9pm, except for July 17th (2pm-9pm).
Bring your lawn chair and join us for MUSIC IN THE PARK every weekend. Schedule of entertainers to be announced!
