We have been enjoying the benefits of spring with sunshine and warmer weather which makes it easy to putter around the garden for hours.

Yesterday I was mixing up the soil to prep for planting some potatoes and guess what I found? Beautiful fingerlings that I missed in the fall. Guess what? I steamed them added a little butter and dill - so fresh and tasty!

Of course, not everyone can enjoy the rewards of having food from their own garden but that's what the local farm producers do for the area. They grow the freshest of the season and bring it market for all to enjoy.

Both major Farmers Markets in our region begin this Saturday, May 2nd. The Qualicum Beach Farmers Market from 8:30 - 12 noon. The Errington Farmers Market from 10am - 1pm.
