Not wanting to upset the apple cart too much, this years XC race will be the usual HammerFest loamy run with a bunch of roots thrown in for free. A few good descents and some fun climbs.

Foraging for Wild Edibles on the Seashore

Some of the year's lowest tides will occur in March and April, uncovering a variety of edible treasures. Join us on an intertidal foraging excursion on the beach, learn harvesting techniques, and sample salty-sweet ocean delicacies. Foragers will learn about First Nations' use of shellfish, local marine ecology, species identification and what island wines complement the organic ocean treats. You will discover where and how to forage for shellfish locally and how to make sure that your shellfish is safe to eat.

The Tuesday bird walk on March 15, 2016 will be going to the Little Qualicum Fish Hatchery north of Qualicum Beach. Meet at the Lions Club Kids playground parking lot at Parksville Bay at 9:00 a.m. or at the Brant viewing platform in north Qualicum Beach at about 9:15 a.m.
