The days are getting longer, the sun is climbing higher and the earth is stirring with the seeds of new life in the Parksville Qualicum Beach region of Vancouver Island. Spring fever, in other words, is in the air. And its contagious – especially so for urbanites eager to shrug off winter’s doldrums and spend as much quality time in the fresh air as possible.
Parksville Qualicum Beach is alive with birds and blooms from the start of school Spring Break right through the Easter holiday. Tulips, lilies, rhododendrons and daffodils are heeding the rising temperatures and thrusting their multi-coloured heads skyward.
Our “Communities in Bloom” are clad in their spring finery. And the first migratory flocks are arriving in numbers, notably thousands of Black Brant geese who take an extended breather here; late March and early April, the annual Brant Wildlife Festival celebrates these hardy frequent fliers with eco-tours, events for kids and families and wildlife viewing adventures.
Two-legged visitors migrate here themselves to enjoy the season and pick up gardening tips that they’ll soon be applying to their own treasured green patches back home.
And if you're a craft beer fan, wine enthusiast or foodie, be sure to check out the Parksville Uncorked festival in early March that includes galas, tastings, winemakers dinners, bubbly brunches, and more. Browse the specials below for super festival specials.
