When the warmth of spring is on its way, it's time to head to central Vancouver Island to see the return of our feathered friends from the South, particularly the Pacific Black Brant.

The Brant Wildlife Festival got its start because of this chatty little black goose which migrates from California and Mexico to Alaska and the Arctic, with stops on the shores of Vancouver Island to rest and feed. Thousands of Black Brant geese and thousands of other sea birds and marine mammals may be seen in Georgia Strait at peak times during the Pacific herring spawn.

From mid-March to mid-April, the annual Brant Wildlife Festival celebrates these hardy frequent fliers with wildlife viewing adventures, events for kids and families, nature photography and guided tours.
