Author Reading of War Resisters, Standing Against the Vietnam War
April 11, 2026 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Local author reads from her BC Bestselling book, War Resisters, Standing Against the Vietnam War.
Within communities across Canada, lives an invisible minority: immigrants who came to Canada from the US during the Vietnam War. They gently integrated into society, bringing their skills, education, and values. The 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War’s conclusion has prompted memories of intense protests and the senseless waste of life. In our current political climate, remembering the Vietnam War and the lessons has never been so important.
In her book, author Joline Martin offers a contemporary perspective by featuring untold stories of twelve Vancouver Island Resisters and the intense political climate that drove their decisions to leave their families and country. Martin will read from her book on Saturday, April 11th, at 2 p.m. at the Qualicum Beach Library, 660 Primrose St, Qualicum Beach. Everyone is welcome to come, listen, and share their memories.
