Tim Hortons Free Summer Concerts - Michael Patrick's Blues Explosion

Michael Patrick's Blues Explosion is an upbeat 7 piece rhythm & blues band that will keep people on the dance floor with their high energy horn driven swing, blues, funk covers and originals. Their diverse repertoire includes songs by Stevie Wonder, Albert Collins, T-Bone Walker, Eric Clapton, J.J. Cale, Glen Miller, plus some funky originals.

Michael Patrick has been playing the blues, rock, and R&B since the 1970's in numerous bands all over North America. Since moving to Vancouver Island he has headed such well-known acts such as The Nite Owls and Black Cat Bone. In 1999 he became the guitarist for the popular band Wunderbread for the next ten years. After playing in jazz quartets for the next 15 years he came back to the blues in 2020.

Since The Blues Explosion was put together 2 years ago they have appeared twice at the Nanaimo Marine Festival, at the Nanaimo Blues Festival in 2023, and at a number of other venues. The Blues Explosion is looking forward to heading into the recording studio later this year to record their first album.
