Farms & Farmers' Markets

For a true taste of Vancouver Island, visit one of these local farms or farmers' markets to stock up on fresh and often organic produce, artisan cheeses, locally raised meat and other goods from local purveyors.

A charcuterie box of cheeses, fruit, cured meats and nuts from Little Qualicum Cheeseworks in Parksville, BC.

Sample feta, raclette and a specialty line of "Jill" cheeses from Little Qualicum Cheeseworks while shopping their Farmgate store or touring their heritage dairy farm. If you're hungry for more, pull up a chair at their seasonal café, which serves baked goods, coffee and grilled sandwiches topped with — you guessed it — cheese. Continue your aged dairy adventure at BoMé Cheese, another artisan cheese company based in Coombs. Taste some of their 12 cheese specialities, enjoy lunch in the café, or relax with an ice cream or cake on the patio and enjoy the great view of Mount Arrowsmith.

The 116-acre family owned Silver Meadows Farm has a small, rustic food market and is a popular stop during autumn, thanks to its pumpkin patch and seasonal corn maze. Purchase grass-fed beef, free-range eggs, and in-season produce from the sixth-generation farmers at Springford Farm Market, also home to a full selection of local, Island-grown produce and Island-made artisan foods.

Not to be missed is the Coombs Old Country Market, famous for its signature "Goats on the Roof" and one of Parksville Qualicum Beach's must-do's. Beneath the hooves of adorable goats, shop fresh produce, local meats and provisions from their marketplace and deli.

Find food and locally crafted items at the Qualicum Beach Farmer's Market on Veteran's Way on Saturdays year-round and at the Errington Farmers Market Saturdays from May through September. Another fun, seasonal food event is the annual Summer by the Sea Market in Parksville (June through August). View our Events Calendar for additional details and more upcoming markets.
