Community Spotlight Series: Little Qualicum Cheeseworks

We're excited to feature Little Qualicum Cheeseworks as this month's Community Spotlight. Little Qualicum Cheeseworks is a family-owned and operated cheese processing and dairy farm. We spoke to owner, Chelsea Enns, about life in Parksville Qualicum Beach and why she loves living here.

How would you describe the place you live to someone who is yet to visit?

"At Little Qualicum Cheeseworks, we make hand-crafted cheese in small batches daily, with milk from our own cows. Our farm is open to the public year-round, encouraging visitors to come and see where their food comes from. We treat our cows like we treat our cheese; with love and care every day. Our Farmgate Store is loaded with cheese as well as local and Canadian products and pairings. We also have Canada's first milk 'on tap' dispenser, where you can fill up your own bottle of farm fresh, whole milk."

What do you love about where you live?

"It's so beautiful here. Coming from the prairies, I don't think I will ever get used to seeing mountains in my backyard or the fact that I can have my toes in the ocean within 3 minutes of leaving the house."

What other businesses should people see during their visit?

"A few of my favourites are Sweet Spot Bake Shop, Soak Lifestyle Boutique, Fern + Cedar and Springford Farm Market."

You have a free day in PQB. What do you do?

"My ideal day would be to go for a morning run down to French Creek Marina, hit up Fern + Cedar for lunch, do a little shopping in Qualicum and grab some take out and have dinner down at the beach."
