		<description><![CDATA[<p>Round two of the search for the Cameron Lake Cryptid this week confirmed that there is something very large swimming in the lake just west of Parksville-Qualicum Beach.</P>

<p>Researchers recorded four strikes in their search on Tuesday, September 14 which supported their findings last year of two large animals in the lake.

The Varied Thrush is a strikingly handsome forest bird and known to be extremely shy, so we and our guests were delighted to good views while we listened to its most fascinating melancholic, eerie song. </p>

		<description><![CDATA[<p>This great horned owl chick recently fledged from the nest and you can still see its fluffy appearance and a smudge from its last meal on its feathers. </p>

<p>The chick was as curious about me as I was about it. Both parents were nearby and working as a team to lure and chase away the ravens which could attack the chicks.  </p>

<p>Bridges, vehicles and hatcheries are safer places to view bears in action. They will often hunt at obstacles in the river where fish are forces into shallow water or need to jump in order to get by.

		<description><![CDATA[The chinook salmon have returned in masses at the Big Qualicum River.  The underwater viewing area is open and lots of fish can be seen in the river as well.  There is plenty of bear scat along the rainforest trails through big trees, so keep an eye out for them around dusk.  Wait by one of the little rapids below the hatchery bridge to see them jump.

I don't know if others have found it because it's not in the main shopping area, but it's definitely worth finding. I found the ambience very lovely, the view amazing, great service and a wonderful reasonably priced meal.  I can't wait to go back!
