Picturesque Wedding Venues

Making wedding magic in Parksville Qualicum Beach.

Your partner sank down on one knee, pulled out a jewelry box, and popped the big question: will you spend the rest of your life with them?

If the answer was a resounding yes, then congratulations! You are about to begin an exciting new chapter of your life—one that begins with a wedding. If you’re looking for a picture-perfect venue, you can’t go wrong with choosing to tie the knot in Parksville Qualicum Beach, where numerous wedding venues offer idyllic backdrops for exchanging vows and creating beautiful life-long wedding day memories.

Picture-Perfect Venues

Beach Club Resort

One such location is the Beach Club Resort, where Billie Lutz works as the sales and catering manager. It’s the ultimate wedding destination, according to her. “We have it all,” she says. “It's oceanfront—what more could you ask for your ceremony? And then follow right into the ballroom for your reception. It's an amazing place to stay out, eat and enjoy.”

Their ballroom capacity is 120 people, a great size for a wedding that can accommodate friends and family but still feel intimate. For those looking for a cozier space, the beachside greens can seat 40 for the reception, or they can help you plan your perfect elopement—something they became very proficient at during the pandemic. “We have a special suite and a balcony that we offer for that as well,” Billie notes.

The Beach Club Resort has been offering wedding options for about 13 years, and as Billie took her position just three months after it opened, she’s been at the helm of helping couples create their dream weddings for years. Its mid-island location makes it a perfect destination for couples across the island or from the mainland, with the ferry jut 40 minutes away and airplane shuttle services offering transportation in the area. “It’s very fast and efficient to get here,” Billie explains.

And if your ideal dates aren’t during the typical wedding season, that’s not a problem either; regardless of the season, the Parksville Qualicum Beach area is a luscious, temperate backdrop year-round. “To be honest with you, in my years of experience doing this job, I think it has been rained out once,” she recalls. “So it doesn't really matter what time of season; it's beautiful here all the time. Fall, summer, spring.”

As most once-upon-a-time couples can attest, planning a wedding can be stressful, full of decisions and details. Billie knows this, fully recognizing the stress that can accompany planning what might be the most important day of your life. “It is probably the most important day other than being born,” Billie laughs. “The most important day of your life. Moving into a new chapter with the beginning with another person, and this day means everything to these people.” That’s why choosing a venue with a coordinator like Billie can help ensure everything goes smoothly.

“I make such a bond with these people working well over your emails, and making sure all the final touches are done,” Billie says. She’s there on the big day from the moment the chairs are being arranged, assisting the wedding party, arranging the procession, helping with groomsmen boutonnieres and making sure the food is properly organized. “One thing I pride myself in doing is I will plate the food for the bride and walk with her so she doesn’t have to hold her plate, and I’ve found that I always a great touch. Brides are always very surprised that I would do that,” Billie says.

She sticks around until the first dance—and then she performs a rose petal turndown service with chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of champagne in the wedded couples’ room while they enjoy their evening, a special extra touch they get to look forward to at the end of their busy day. “It's very dear to my heart to see these people get married; it's emotional,” Billie says. “Because not only is this a job, I take it beyond that. It's personal for me.”

Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Spa Resort & Conference Centre

Jackie Legzdins at Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Spa Resort and Conference Centre has similar feelings to Billie when it comes to planning weddings with . “We love what we do,” the wedding and events manager says. “It is a family-owned resort, so the owners of the resort treat us like family, which in turn makes us treat our clients like family. We love everybody that comes through the doors. Every wedding that we have, it's really important to us to make the most special day of their life.”

With 192 guest rooms that can sleep 490 people, the resort is a great option for the couple who wants to host their wedding day with a lot of celebration. The resort is spread out over 22 acres, has two restaurants, a spa, a beach and a stunning gazebo that is the perfect place for saying “I do.” Having hosted weddings for 40 years, they’re experts in helping couples plan their perfect wedding day. “We take care of all of the details,” Jackie explains. “We don't leave any guess work up to you; we know what makes the perfect wedding and we've built packages that give that to our guests.”

They’ve worked with local vendors for years, so the vendors are proficient at working at the location. These relationships with local vendors have allowed them to build packages that include hors d'oeuvres, dinner, dessert, late night snacks, sparkling wine—"everything you need to have an amazing wedding,” says Jackie. “And we price it out at a cost per person, instead of individual things. So you see the total cost and you don't have to worry about whether ‘I need this or this or this.’ It's all just included.”

But just because there is 10,000 square feet of banquet space doesn’t mean you can’t book in for an intimate wedding as well, as they have rooms of various sizes to accommodate any number of guests. Regardless of the size of wedding, they’ll help ensure every detail is taken care of, making it a place couples will want to return for years to come to celebrate anniversaries and other life celebrations.
