Bayside Oceanside Resort, a member of the Choice Hotel Group, is a full-service hotel with 59 recently renovated rooms. The property is designed to provide comfort and convenience for all guests, with accessibility features across many areas.

All public spaces, including the restaurant-bar, café and conference rooms, are fully accessible, and an elevator services all floors of the hotel. On the main floor, there is a single accessible washroom available for guest use. The indoor pool and gym area can be accessed by wheelchair users via an exterior pathway; however, there are four steps inside the building that prevent interior access.

While the pool features a railing at the entry stairs, the washrooms in this area are not designed for use by disabled persons. The outdoor pool, which opened in Summer 2023, offers a railing system that ensures safe and comfortable entry into the swimming area. Beach access is available via a pathway behind the hotel, but it is covered in 1” rock, which is not suitable for wheelchair users.

Accommodations

The resort has one designated accessible room, Room B215, an oceanfront unit with a Queen bed. This room has an entry door width of 33” (84cm) and a bathroom door width of 35” (88cm). The bathroom is equipped with grab bars and a low tub with a hand-held shower. A stool is available upon request to accommodate additional needs. To ensure availability for guests requiring accessible features, this room is never included in group bookings and is kept open until the last minute.

The other 58 rooms at the resort have entry doors that are 30” (76cm) wide and bathroom doors that are 27” (68cm) wide. All bathrooms in these rooms feature a low tub with a standard showerhead and a grab bar near the toilet. The bedroom and living areas in these units are spacious enough to allow for wheelchair maneuverability. However, balcony access involves a small lip of a couple of inches, and no ramps are available to assist with this.

Bayside Oceanside Resort recognizes the importance of accessibility and strives to offer a welcoming experience for all guests. While there are areas for improvement, the resort is committed to continually enhancing its facilities to meet diverse needs.
