Music on Sunday at The Old School House Arts Centre - The Nick La Riviere Quartet

Trombonist Nick La Riviere has performed in many parts of the world, including Mexico, England, Ireland, Germany, Luxembourg, Austria, Switzerland, The USA, and across Canada. In addition to trombone, he plays conch shells, bass, and sings. Nick plays with many different bands including The Paperboys, Locarno, The HiFi, and Michael Kaeshammer.

Red Cross Standard First Aid with AED/CPR

Be prepared; get trained with a two day course in first aid and cardiopulmonary (CPR C) skills. Training includes home hazards, accident prevention, safety education, CPR level C, first aid skills for common emergencies and automated external defibrillators (AED). SafeTALK Workshop

SafeTALK is a half-day suicide alertness training that prepares anyone over the age of 15, regardless of prior experience of training, to become a suicide-alert helper. Most people with thoughts of suicide don't truly want to die but are struggling with the pain in their lives. Through their words and actions, they invite help to stay alive. SafeTALK-trained helpers can recognize these invitations and take action by connecting the person with thoughts of suicide to local life-saving intervention resources. The Tuesday Bird walk on October 03, 2017, will be going to Rathtrevor Beach Provincial in Parksville. Meet at the Parksville Community Park (at the parking lot in front of the Lions Club Playground) at 9:00 a.m. or at the main parking lot at Rathtrevor Park at about 9:10 a.m.

Join Dr. Steven Earle for an interpretive geology tour on the beaches of Nanoose Bay. Learn simple identification techniques and a bit about the island's geological history. If you've been thinking about trying Zentangle(R), or you want to get back into it, there are a number of classes coming up at the MAC that will fit the bill. Certified Zentangle Teacher Rhonda Roy will be teaching four classes this fall at the McMillan Arts Centre in Parksville.

Zentangle Basics - September 9th (10-1) is a three-hour introduction to the Zentangle method. Even people who think they can't draw enjoy learning about Zentangle, and they are pleasantly surprised at what they can do. Zentangle Basics is a prerequisite for all the other classes.
