The Old School House (TOSH) in Qualicum Beach has announced their Autumn 2015 Music on Sunday season. All concerts are from 2:30 - 4:30 pm.

Classical (September 20) - Sara Davis Buechner piano

We are very pleased to begin the season with this esteemed, internationally active virtuoso who is based in Vancouver and a member of the piano faculty at the UBC School of Music. Today's program will include works by Mozart, Liszt and Gershwin.

Classical (September 27) - Suzanne Snizek - flute, Joanna Hood - viola, Michelle Mares - piano

These three accomplished faculty members of the University of Victoria School of Music bring us a delightfully eclectic program: Nebojsa Macura Six Year Interlude, Maurice Durufle Prelude, Recitatif et Variations opus 3, as well as selections by Mieczyslaw Weinberg, Elisenda Fabregas and Bohuslav Martinu.

Jazz (October 4) - The Tom Keenlyside Quartet

Many of our regular jazz aficionados have been clamoring for the return of this wonderful Vancouver-based saxophonist and flutist. We are very happy to accommodate this request because doing so guarantees an afternoon of superbly tasteful jazz music. With Ron Hadley - piano, Sean Drabitt - bass, and Hans Verhoeven - drums.

Flamenco (October 18) - Guitarist Ruben Portillo, Dancer Sandra Cisneros and Percussionist Davide Sampaolo

Traditional flamenco artists directly from Malaga, Spain and an Italian master of the cajon drum. The event will actually be a concert/demonstration with very informative commentary and explanations by Canadian vocalist, Spanish music devotee and Malaga resident, Nancy Ruth.

Classical (October 24) - The Rimsky-Korsakov String Quartet (From St. Petersburg, Russia) Saturday Afternoon

A back-by-intense-popular-demand concert by one of the world's leading and longest tenured string quartets. Their triumphant North American tour last year resulted in enthusiastic calls for return engagements in every city that they visited. We are ecstatic to be able to once again include TOSH's music-loving community in their 2015 schedule!

Classical (October 25) - UVIC Young Artists: Elizabeth Clarke, piano

Fortunately for us, this phenomenally talented graduate student in piano performance at the University of Victoria (where she studies with Arthur Rowe) has agreed to travel up-Island with her Master's Degree recital program, which will include works by Beethoven, Schumann, Rachmaninoff, and Britten.

Classical (November 1) - Connie Gitlin, clarinet and Victoria Gomon, piano

Two of Vancouver's most highly respected performers and busiest teachers treat us to a charming afternoon of compositions by Schumann, Poulenc, Milhaud and Muczynski.

Jazz (November 8) - The Bill Runge Quartet

Don't miss Music on Sunday's first visit by this long-time first-call pillar of the Vancouver jazz scene. Bill has been a successful performer, composer, arranger, and orchestrator for over 30 years. His saxophone style amalgamates the influences of John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Michael Brecker, and Steve Grossman with is own compositional approach... a modern player firmly rooted in jazz tradition. With Rod Hadley - piano, Ken Lister - bass, Buff Allen - drums.

Classical (November 15) - Trio Dolce: Shawn Earle - clarinet, Laine Longton - cello, Claire Yuan - piano

Now in their second season, this dynamic trio of Doctoral Degree candidates at the University of British Columbia School of Music has been gaining considerable notoriety with its busy schedule of well-received concerts in the Vancouver area. Today's program will include works by Beethoven, Brahms and Rota.

Classical (November 22) - Oleg Pokhanovski - violin, Scott Meek - piano

This distinguished violin professor at the University of Manitoba's Desautels Faculty of Music joins with one of Vancouver's most brilliant, rapidly rising, young piano stars to bring us a very intriguing program that consists of Professor Pokhanovski's duo arrangements of the famous Paganini Caprices (originally for solo violin).

Jazz (November 29) - The Edie Daponte Trio

Edie's intimate and dynamic style coupled with her sincere and passionate delivery (in English, Portuguese, Spanish and French) warmly draw her listeners into her enchanting personal journey of respect for the great songwriters of Latin and Jazz standards. With Ron Hadley - piano and Joey Smith - bass.

Christmas Classical Music (December 6) - Cordei Harp and Violin Duo: Albertina Chan and Janna Sailor with Soprano Catherine Laub and Mezzo-soprano Fabiana Katz

Get your tickets early for this gorgeous musical celebration of the Holidays! This unique and transporting, Vancouver-based combination of two masterful instrumentalists and two beautiful singers is certain to inspire your Yuletide spirit with traditional carols, well-known Christmas songs, and seasonal selections from some of the great classical composers.
