Community Spotlight Series: The Beach Club Resort

Our Community Spotlight Series introduces you to the places and people that make Parksville Qualicum Beach unique. This month, we’re highlighting the Beach Club Resort - an oceanfront destination that’s become a staple for locals and visitors alike.

Situated right on Parksville’s sandy shoreline, The Beach Club Resort combines stunning views with thoughtful amenities designed for relaxation and adventure. Guests can enjoy paddleboards, kayaks, bikes, beach umbrellas, and games - or simply take in the breathtaking sunsets from the restaurant patio, known for its locally inspired menu.

The resort recently completed full room updates, including new kitchen cabinets, flooring, furniture, and décor, ensuring every stay feels modern and welcoming. And for those looking for a one-of-a-kind culinary experience, the new Catch & Dine program invites guests to bring back their fresh catch from a fishing charter and have it prepared by the resort’s culinary team as a gourmet meal.

With its unbeatable location, warm hospitality, and a blend of relaxation and adventure, the Beach Club Resort continues to be one of Parksville Qualicum Beach’s most cherished places to stay, dine, and gather.

We spoke with Lisa McCormick, General Manager of the Beach Club Resort, who shared her perspective on what makes the resort—and Parksville Qualicum Beach—so special. From her love of the area’s beaches to the new updates and programs at the resort, Lisa offers a behind-the-scenes look at how the Beach Club continues to welcome guests with both comfort and a true sense of place.

What do you love most about where you live?

"I love the abundance and variety of beaches in the area, and planning your day around tides. The sense of community here is also exceptional; I've enjoyed building genuine connections and relationships with both residents and local business owners over the past six years."

Where do you take family and friends when they visit?

"When my family and friends visit, I often bring them to the restaurant patio at the Beach Club Resort. It offers some of the best views on the island, along with a great selection of locally sourced seafood dishes. If they are also staying at the Beach Club, the sunset paddleboarding and swimming during high tide can create a truly memorable experience with some of the warmest ocean waters in Canada!"

What other businesses should people see during their visit?

"Ocean EcoVentures offers excellent whale watching excursions departing from French Creek, making it a worthwhile experience. Western Star Fishing Charters is also recommended for a day on the water and superb salmon fishing. Little Qualicum Cheeseworks provides a variety of delicious cheeses, milk, ice cream, and a visit with the cows. For high-quality, Canadian-made goods sourced from around the island, Soak Lifestyle Boutique in Parksville is a great option. Lastly, The Old Country Market in Coombs features an eclectic mix of sights, including the famous goats on the roof."

You have a free day in PQB, what do you do?

"On a free Saturday in Parksville-Qualicum Beach, I would begin with a walk on the beach with my dog, followed by a visit to a farmers market (Errington or Qualicum), and then enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. The afternoon would be spent relaxing at the beach, paddleboarding, and swimming, before stopping by the French Creek Seafood Store to pick up fresh catch items for dinner on the BBQ with my family!"

What combination of experiences makes up your perfect day in PQB?

"It would involve a mix of enjoying activities on or in the water, such as fishing, boating, paddleboarding, or swimming with friends and family, along with sharing delicious meals made from locally sourced farm foods."

What’s new and exciting at The Beach Club Resort?

"All of our rooms have been updated with new kitchen cabinets, flooring, carpet, drapes, and furniture. We offer a variety of amenities for our guests to enjoy, including paddleboards, kayaks, bikes, beach umbrellas, chairs, wagons, and a selection of yard and beach games. Our restaurant features a menu that changes seasonally, highlighting the fresh produce of Vancouver Island and locally sourced ingredients. This year, we have introduced a new Catch & Dine program, which allows guests returning from a fishing charter to bring their catch to the resort, where our culinary team will prepare it as a gourmet meal for them and their party. I seem to be on a fishing kick lately! This is from this past weekend... Nice 15lbs Chinook!"
