Sunday Concert at the MAC - Sarah M. Wood & Friends
Mar 1, 2015

Her compositions are a hint of Broadway meeting Pacific-Northwest ocean and rainforest, with a connection to the divine.”… Mary Ann Moore, More Living Magazine.

The Sarah M. Woods Ensemble presents The WONDERS of LIFE, a collection of sixteen of her original musical compositions.

Sarah and her ensemble will be appearing at the McMillan Arts Centre on McMillan Street, in Parksville, on Sunday, March 1. The performance starts at 3PM and tickets are available at the MAC. To purchase tickets, visit or call the MAC at (250-248-8185). $12.00 for OCAC members and $15.00 general admission. Sarah M. Woods is a classically trained pianist and influenced by everything from Sondheim to Satie. Her musical career began at the tender age of 10 when she composed her first piece of music on her mother's piano. Since then, Sarah has written over 250 pieces of music on both piano and guitar. Her musical style ranges from classical to jazz, theatrical to sacred, and her live performances have included everything from intimate solos to instrumental ensembles.

For more than a decade, Sarah has enjoyed the privilege of playing the Port Theatre's Steinway concert grand to a full house at the VIU convocation ceremonies. She also plays regularly for small and enthusiastic audiences around Nanaimo and has recently begun production on her second full-length musical theatre production entitled Take off or Take the Fall.

The program at the MAC will offer a unique mixture of impressionist, theatrical, sacred and easy listening music. Sarah will be joined in this production by guitarist Mauro Azzara, bassist Marisha Devoin: award winning singer/songwriter Andrea Smith, singer songwriter Bobbi Schram, Claudio Fantinato on saxaphone and percussionist Madeleine Wood.

Currently, Sarah is excited to be promoting her latest CD, winner of the 2011 VIMA Instrumental Album of the Year - Ocean Tapestry, recorded live at the Port Theatre in 2009. The CD is a compilation of 12 original piano compositions, born out of what Sarah calls her "preoccupation with coastal waters;” a musical journey spanning more than 30 years.
