Farm Tour and Potluck at Cicada Seeds

Young Agrarians presents Farm Tour and Potluck at Cicada Seeds.

We’ll enjoy a tour of Cicada Seeds, a quarter-acre farm operating on two sites in Errington, BC (one of which owner/operator Michi Hunter accessed through the BC Land Matching Program. As the owner and operator of Cicada Seeds, Michi is focused on growing high-quality perennial vegetable seeds using practices that support ecological diversity and minimize soil disturbance.

During the tour, Michi will share her experience of scaling up her home seed saving practice into a viable seed business on leased land. Attendees will have the chance to ask questions about farm start-up, seed growing, land sharing, and why it is important to integrate perennial foods into our food system. The evening will wrap up with a potluck meal, with plenty of time to socialize.

Ari, the Land Matcher for Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands, will also be there to discuss how he can help you find a farmer for your land, or farmland where you can build your dream farm business.
