Community Spotlight Series: Rusted Rake Brewing
Our Community Spotlight Series lets you learn more about our locals and what they love about living and doing business in Parksville Qualicum Beach. This month, we’re putting the spotlight on Rusted Rake Brewing, offering farm-to-tap beer & fare located in Nanoose Bay.
Experience the essence of community and sustainability at Rusted Rake Brewing, where craft beer meets locally-sourced gourmet cuisine in a scenic farm setting. With barley fields as its backdrop, this brewery and eatery offer an authentic taste of our region's landscapes and culinary heritage.
We spoke with Jodie Gemmell, one of the four founders of Rusted Rake about life in Parksville Qualicum Beach and some of her favourite local spots.

Where do you take family and friends when they visit?
"Hiking along Englishman River or a day spent at Rathtrevor Park. If shopping is on the table, then it's off to the Qualicum Beach Farmers Market and a beer and burger at Fern + Cedar."
What other businesses should people see during their visit?
"Springford Farms is a must while in Nanoose Bay as well as morning coffees at Nanoose Bay Cafe. If you venture into Parksville then hit up Soak Lifestyle Boutique for all your boutique shopping needs and Qualicum Beach for a stop at French Press Coffee Roasters and more boutique shopping at one of the many fabulous shops. Oh, and also Mod Apparel and Covet come to my mind."

What experiences make up your perfect day in PQB?
"My perfect day is with my family hiking Notch Hill in the morning followed by lunch at one of the fabulous local restaurants Nanoose Bay has to offer. We would then pack up a dinner and head to Beachcomber Park to swim, watch the locals fish off the rocks and sit back and watch the sun set. Just the best!"
