Deep Bay Marine Field Station, VIU
Vancouver Island University’s Deep Bay Marine Field Station is a marine science facility located on the shore of Deep Bay at the southern end of Baynes Sound. It supports Vancouver Island University research and academic programs, and welcomes school classes and other interested groups for marine-themed activities and station tours. The station has marine invertebrate touch tanks, aquaria, exhibits and activities to teach visitors about local marine life, current issues in marine sciences, shellfish aquaculture, whales and other marine science topics. Special events highlight current research and marine topics.
Open daily from 10am to 4pm to public drop-in visitors from the May long weekend to the end of August every year.
